1. Website vs Plugin — Quick Distinction
The marketing website and the self-hosted plugin have fundamentally different data architectures.
Website (getmediapurge.com)
- Marketing & documentation website hosted on Hostinger
- Collects standard web server logs (IP address, user agent)
- Collects voluntary contact messages submitted by users
- No mandatory user accounts required to browse
Plugin (on your WordPress site)
- 100% self-contained software on your server
- Zero external API calls for core scanning & cleanup
- All scan results, whitelist & trash stay in your own database
- Does NOT phone home or upload your media to third parties
2. Who We Are
Media Purge is an independent WordPress software project founded and developed by Naqeeb Ul Rehman. Website: https://getmediapurge.com/. WordPress.org Plugin Repository: https://wordpress.org/plugins/media-purge/.
3. Information the Website May Collect
Depending on how you interact with getmediapurge.com, the Website may process:
- Information you submit: Contact inquiries including name, email address, message subject, and notes. We use this strictly to respond to inquiries and never sell or rent your contact details.
- Technical & log data: Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider (Hostinger) automatically logs HTTP requests, which may include your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URL, and timestamp for security and operational reliability.
- Cookies: Essential session cookies required for website performance, security, and spam prevention. No unnecessary tracking cookies are set by default.
- What we do NOT do: We do not require customer logins on the marketing website, nor do we run remote media analyses through the website.
4. Information the Plugin Processes (On Your Site)
The Media Purge plugin is engineered with privacy and autonomy at its core:
- Self-contained architecture: The plugin runs entirely within your WordPress environment. It does not send your media files, filenames, database tables, or scan results to external servers.
- Data accessed locally: To determine whether media items are in use, the plugin queries your local WordPress database tables: attachment records, post content, postmeta (including featured images and builder data), options tables (widgets, customizer), and WooCommerce product galleries.
- Trash & retention: Trashed files are stored in an internal WordPress trash structure on your server for the retention period (default 30 days) and are purged only when expired or manually commanded by you.
- Uninstallation: When you delete the plugin via WordPress admin, its temporary audit tables and option settings are removed cleanly.
5. Security & Data Retention
We apply standard security best practices including SSL/TLS encryption for all website communications. Website contact inquiries are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfill the communication purpose and maintain standard business records.
6. Your Rights & Contact Information
Depending on your jurisdiction (such as the GDPR in the European Union or CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information held about you through website contact submissions.
